Product Review: e.l.f Acne Fighting Foundation

I felt as far as first posts are concerned, we should start at the beginning: foundation.
YAAAAAAAS
Technically I should be starting at like face wash or primer or something, but my makeup bag is right here and the bathroom is all the way, well, not here. Plus I can't remember the full name of my face wash. I'd say we're off to a good start here on CFBR.

Allow me to preface I've been using this particular foundation for YEARS. It's my fav just because it does seem to help me manage my adult acne. Or is it the reason I am still getting acne...DUN DUN DUNNNNN.

But seriously, the Acne Fighting Foundation from e.l.f. will last you FOR-EV-ER. I use a pea-sized amount daily and I've had this bottle for probably much longer than I should. Like so long all the writing has worn off the bottle too long. Oh well, I haven't had a weird allergic reaction or died, so I'll tough it out.

So without further ado, let's review this foundation!

1. Cost: $6.00 USD for 1.21 fl. oz
2. Container: Opaque plastic squeeze bottle with a black twist top.
3. Color range: Covers all from light skin tones through deep skin tones. I will say if you are super pale like moi, the lightest shade (which was Ivory and I guess now is Porcelain?) may still be too dark for you.
4. Consistency: Thick, dense cream but not cakey upon application. Doesn't seem to dry out or get clumpy if you keep the lid capped tight.
5. Color payoff: Here's where things get tricky. The product is definitely buildable, but I've noticed if I try to build this bad boy up for a full-coverage look, my face ends up looking a completely different shade than the rest of my body for the rest of the day. However, if I use a damp beauty sponge and slowly build up to a max medium coverage, it'll oxidize for 30ish minutes and then ends up matching my skin tone nicely.
6. Wear length: Long. With the right primer and setting powder, this foundation can last you 8/+ hours before it starts to break down on your face. Keep in mind, I am a sometimes oily and sometimes dry t-zone person and fairly normal everywhere else. Depending on the waxing and waning of my hormones, I may have to blot some oil and reapply a bit of powder at the 6 hour mark. Overall, this foundation does a pretty good job lasting a full day at work.
7. Side effects: None. Unless you count the oxidization, but that's not really painful or discomforting.
8. Overall rating: I give this foundation a 4.2 out of 5 because A. they need to come out with some more shades, both for pale and dark skin tones and 2. The oxidization of the foundation brings me one step closer to my oompa loompa brethren.
